Stay

Where you will sleep

Five rooms, one philosophy: luxuries are a city thing — up here, the view is the luxury.

The walk in

Not just an approach — an acclimatisation hike

Getting to us takes about 15 minutes on foot — roughly 450 metres, uphill, from where you'll park roadside. We tell you this clearly, upfront, because it matters: if you're headed for the Tungnath trek afterward, this walk doubles as your first acclimatisation stretch.

It's steep, and it's real — not a stroll. If you don't hike regularly, or you're a senior traveller with health considerations, it's worth knowing that before you book.

It's also, for a lot of guests, the best fifteen minutes of the trip. The path runs through an actual mountain village — you'll likely cross paths with locals, see organically grown vegetables and grains, watch how animals are kept up here, and get a real, unscripted look at how people in the hills actually live. Nothing about it is staged for visitors. It's just what's on the way.

We sometimes call the property "The Summit" — because once you're up, the view is the kind you'd usually have to actually summit something to earn. No pain, no gain.

Honestly, the walk does some of our filtering for us. It tends to bring the guests who want to move, and who don't mind leaving the city rhythm at the bottom of the hill — which is exactly who this place is for.

Help with your bags can be arranged if you ask.

The mud house

Dual-sharing · 2 guests

Built of mud, the old way — the one room on the property that still is. It holds the mountain's chill in the day and its quiet at night in a way nothing else here does. No polish, no varnish. Just walls that have been doing their job a long time.

₹2,000 per person, per night

Includes dinner, breakfast, and hi-tea.

A triple-sharing room at The Aipan Retreat

Triple-sharing rooms · three of these

Usually kept for two, a third bed on request

Raw stone and concrete, built the way a Himalayan village house is built — unpolished on purpose. It feels lived-in rather than styled, which is the point: you didn't come up 2,680 metres for a hotel room.

₹1,400 per person/night dual-sharing · ₹1,200 as triple-sharing

Includes dinner, breakfast, and hi-tea.

The bunk room at The Aipan Retreat, sleeping up to six people

Same raw build as the triple rooms, just bigger — six beds under one roof, for a group that's happy to share space and compare notes on the trek the next morning.

What the house gives you

Washrooms

Shared across the property: 3 toilets, 2 bathrooms. Hot water is there for anyone who wants it, at no extra charge — just ask.

Food

Garhwali and Kumaoni home cooking, the food of this valley — with Indo-Chinese, Continental, or other Indian cuisines available on request. Everything's made fresh the same day; we don't keep a refrigerator, so nothing sits around. What we cook for guests is what we eat ourselves. Simple, but safe, hygienic, and some of the best food in the valley.

Water

Spring water, filtered by the tree roots, coming straight from the high altitudes.
